‘CANNONBALL!’ U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS & CARVERTISE READY TO MAKE A SPLASH IN NEW YORK CITY WITH EYE-POPPING CAMPAIGN

New York City (May 17, 2022) — Just in time for swimsuit season, the United States Virgin Islands Department of Tourism (Visit USVI) is about to hit the streets of New York City—literally—with a memorable marketing campaign.Visit USVI has joined forces with Carvertise, the nation’s leading rideshare advertising company, to deploy a fleet of 20 rideshare vehicles, each fully-wrapped (yes, even the roofs!) with stunning beach scenes from the destination’s three islands— St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas—to drive through the Big Apple’s streets for a two-month-long activation. The campaign will kick off in grand style on May 19, when all the vehicles will swarm the area surrounding the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Gala held at the Hark Rock Hotel, reminding the event’s island-loving attendees that a jaunt to paradise is a quick, four hour flight away and doesn’t require a passport for U.S. citizens.“

As one of our largest target markets, New York City was a major focus for us, and we thought this would be a creative way to promote the destination in a city with such a high traffic and visibility,” expressed Joseph Boschulte, U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism. “We believe the cars will be the center of attention and will generate interest in visiting our breathtaking destination.” The car wraps are set to inspire visits to the destination with a solid call to action to stimulate engagement just before the summer season. The tagline, “Visit America’s Caribbean,” serves as an insightful message that supports the vibrant imagery in the car wraps design.

The campaign marks a new milestone for Carvertise: Visit USVI is the company’s first Caribbean based client. Greg Star, co-founder of Carvertise, said the company is thrilled to be partnering with the group of islands as travel comes roaring back to pre-pandemic levels. “We’re excited to help Visit USVI promote tourism to the destination in the Big Apple in an extremely memorable way,” said Star, noting that tourism offices throughout the world are re-evaluating their marketing strategies as the pandemic eases and destinations welcome back visitors. “As competition for visitors mounts, our destination partners recognize they have to work harder to connect with their target markets. They must find innovative ways to showcase their destination in a more engaging manner,” he added.
