As NFL Season Takes Off, Advertisers Adopt New Playbook

Marketers Score Fans With Branded Car ‘Swarms”

August 24, 2023 – Although the official NFL season doesn’t kick off until Sept. 7, savvy marketers are already leveraging a new marketing vehicle — literally — to capture fans’ attention in the pre-season and beyond.

Advertisers in numerous verticals, from healthcare to gaming to education to legal, are scoring big during pre-season events, such as training camps, by partnering with Carvertise — America’s leading ride share advertising company— to deploy swarms of branded vehicles all around the football arenas in campaigns that will continue throughout the season.

Examples:

  • Baptist Health in South Florida sent swarms of branded Ubers (above) touting its brand new orthopedic complex — coupled with a Miami Dolphins logo — to the Dolphins’ training camp and the pre-season matchup with the Atlanta Falcons at Hard Rock Stadium.
  • Horseshoe Casino Baltimore will debut a swarm of branded vehicles around M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore for the Ravens home games in September, including the home opener against the Houston Texans.
  • Brian White Personal Injury Lawyers will be activating vehicle swarms at every Houston Texans home game at NRG stadium with brightly-colored branded cars (see below) featuring White promising to “kick the crap out of insurance companies.”
  • Florida State College at Jacksonville will deploy branded vehicles around TIAA Stadium in the hours leading up to Jacksonville Jaguars games.

“It’s sports marketing’s secret weapon,” says Carvertise Co-Founder Greg Star. “What other form of advertising allows you to join the party by driving your advertisement right up to huge groups of fired-up football fans? There’s no doubt that Carvertise swarms are the most unique and memorable form of advertising you’ll find around stadiums this season.”

Even better, Star says, brands aren’t breaking the bank to leverage ride share swarms. In In lieu of spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on a stadium sponsorship, “many of our clients are finding a way to connect with fans at a fraction of the cost,” Star says. And in terms of effectiveness, Carvertise’s mobile marketing campaigns clearly pack a marketing punch worth rooting for: Statistics from a 2019 Nielsen out-of-home study reveal that wrapped cars have proven to be the most effective and memorable form of Out-of-Home advertising. It’s not unusual to see tailgating fans standing next to the colorful vehicles and sharing their photos on social media.

And though no one yet knows which teams will make it to the NFL’s big game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Star says several Carvertise clients are already making plans to swarm the event. “The Super Bowl is the world’s biggest stage,” he says. “Regardless of the teams involved, our clients’ brands will emerge as the big winners.”
